Prolimit harnesses
In the past days, we have received Prolimit 2020 shipment of neoprene suits, harnesses, mast basses, booms, extensions and all other accessories that they produce. In the windsurfing world, Prolimit has been a synonym for quality, perfection and reliability of their products for quite some time. Not to mention that their products are also quite attractive from the visual point of view. Despite all its superiority Prolimit always works quietly and somewhat "in the background". Without much fanfare they introduced the new line of 2020 harnesses. Since we believe that this time they have once again surpassed not only themselves but also all the competition, they deserve their blog post.
Windsurf harness is windsurfing accessory that simplifies and helps to extend our time on the water for quite some time more. It is one of the accessories that we often choose according to colour, brand and appropriate size. There are huge differences between the harnesses themselves - depending on the level of support they offer us and the flexibility we have with a particular type of harness.
For many years, Prolimit has been investing a lot of time and resources in the development of harnesses, which is also evident in the products themselves. Their harnesses are one of the best harnesses in the world. They not only develop innovations in materials, hook and release system, but also deal with those small details such as edges, the position of the inner support plate and the search for compromises between different materials, so as to achieve the maximum flexibility and support it offers. Although the vast majority of windsurfers today use waist harnesses, Prolimit continues to drive the development of seat harnesses. They haven’t even forgotten about the womens and have further perfected the harness, tailored specifically for them.
There are so many differences from model to model and it certainly doesn't make sense to describe everything and all the differences. In the following, we will present the main features that adorn the windsurf 2020 harness models. We were certainly very impressed by Prolimit’s improvement, as this year's models are the whole level better than anything seen on the market so far!
Let's start with the Elite series of models….
We will begin with Agron and Agron Barloc models, which used the newly developed Pure ™ material. The material is 100% environmentally friendly, as it is completely recyclable, and it is even lighter than water (buoyant). Pure material is thermally formed without the use of various chemical resins, in addition, it is extremely strong and has a very low density compared to other competing materials - an ideal material for harnesses! Since the material itself is not based on resins or fiberglass, it also cannot be torn to pieces and consequently the harness cannot be torn. For now, only the Agron and Agron Barloc models are made of this material (Barloc has a different Pin release system). We can’t wait to see Pure on all models!
The Team Wave MPL model has been improved one step further. The interior of the harness is made entirely of neoprene, and the EVA-shaped support with a 4-point mesh belt offers even greater mechanical grip. The harness is anatomically perfectly pre-formed, the padded edges are made of neoprene, the double foam construction and the support plate itself (Mark IV) ensure that the harness is extremely comfortable even when we are out of the water and no longer need it.
The icon in the world of harnesses, the Type T harness, has also got its more than worthy successor. Type T and Type T Barloc stand out for their maximum degree of flexibility they offer to the user. Maximum flexibility is achieved with a redesigned EVA support (double density) and 4-point Mesh sticky belt for high mechanical grip.
In the Advance series, the Hybrid model is alone…
As the name suggests, it is a hybrid between different "philosophies" of harnesses. Molded and unmolded parts combined for support and light weight. Laminated PU material with added elasticity and the internal Nylon waist belt absorb no water, making this the lightest harness out there while still giving you the great back support of a Prolimit harness.
Envy: Women will be thrilled - again!
So far, you have been more than happy with the Envy! But even with this model, Prolimit went a step further! With their comment, to sum it up briefly, we would hardly disagree: Envy is the best female harness of all time. Neoprene inside to give complete comfort. Great support with plenty of freedom to movement. Redesigned and anatomically drawn on a female CAD model with lower rib area. This makes it the most comfortable and stable girls waist harness. Full wrap neoprene edges ensures comfort and no chafe, even without a wetsuit for those summer sessions. The 4 point sticky connection belt offers more mechanical grip than any other harness can deliver.
Seat harness…
The Rambler and Cruise seat harnesses (both freerace / race harnesses) also received corrections. The harnesses offer a slightly modified profile for better support. Freerace/racing harness has a medium to high profile for support. This allows maximum sail power to be carried at all times. In combination with back support control system and double buckles, this allows for big hook hight adjustment. Giving the Rambler a comfortable ride and great handling at high speed.
Freemove as an entry model into the world of seated harnesses continues to be an excellent recreational seating harness, offering easy fastening and unfastening from harness lines.
Race harness also still remains at a high level as a great choice for those most demanding slalom windsurfers and formula racers.
